One of my favourite things to do as a child was to bake treats at Christmas time with my Mom and sisters. Every year we would gather the recipe books and scour them for new ideas. Inevitably, we always returned to old favorites. Shortbread, sugar cookies, gingerbread men and patchwork cookies (a secret family recipe) We would share in the mixing and rolling and decorating duties. I do the same thing with my children. I love feeling that connection during the holidays. Even though my kids are getting older, they still look forward to “helping” Mom bake the Christmas treats every year.
